Can you elaborate on how Studio minD's collaborative thinking platform specifically facilitates the integration of diverse inputs into coherent, innovative design solutions?

At minD, we believe in controlled pure design that boosts experience and evokes emotions. Recognizing the importance of collaboration and constructive feedback, we conduct daily team meetings to foster idea generation, gather input, and establish clear goals. Through iterative testing of various design outcomes, constructive feedback from one another, and bold explorations with emerging tools and techniques, we strive for innovation.

Regarding sustainable materials and technologies, could you give an example of a project where these elements significantly improved human interactions or ways of living?

The tranquillity of the space can be felt through every element from its fluid design and the combination of natural materials and fluid shapes. By integrating renewable energy sources like solar panels and passive design strategies. For instance, incorporating natural lighting and ventilation systems not only reduces energy consumption but also creates comfortable and inviting spaces for social gatherings and interaction. This demonstrates the impact of transparency by providing panoramic breath-taking views, inviting nature in, being part of the home, and having a positive effect on the well-being of residents.

How does the element of surprise manifest in your controlled pure design approach, and can you share an example where this has enhanced a project's outcome?

In our controlled pure design approach, the element of surprise manifests through unexpected yet harmonious design elements that captivate and delight users. "The Cloud" chandelier which we have designed is a brave example of how the element of surprise can enhance a project's outcome.

With computational design and digital tools at the forefront of your process, how do you ensure these technologies contribute to both the innovation and sustainability of your projects?

Digital design tools and computational techniques allows us to explore and iterate on design concepts rapidly, facilitating the discovery of innovative solutions. Drawing from a diverse skill set that includes art, research-backed design methodologies, advanced simulations, and fabrication techniques, we prioritize the use of reusable materials and prototyping.

Can you provide insights into how your studio approaches the balance between aesthetic values and functional necessities in architectural design, product design, and interior design?

Our team comprises talented individuals with diverse skill sets; some excel in creativity and design, while others possess critical thinking and technical expertise. After multiple design explorations and iterations, a promising direction is chosen which we test and simulate in an agent-based environment. This rigorous process ensures that our final solutions are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally robust, engaging, and emotionally resonant, delivering exceptional experiences for people.

When developing a product design we test different materials such as wood and steel, CNC technology alongside handcrafting to build unique high-end design pieces. It is not an easy journey to build a product and you have to be patient and allow yourself to make failures from which you learn. I am still quite impressed with how long does it takes for a CNC machine to carve stainless steel.

Looking towards the future, how does Studio minD plan to further explore and incorporate cutting-edge technologies and sustainable materials to push the boundaries of design innovation?

We believe in fascinating design that boosts experience and evokes emotions. We are aiming to achieve our goal in various fields of design while building a talented team at Mind Design.

We continuously challenge ourselves with new ideas throughout the projects we are doing while seeking feedback from one another. The idea of collaboration is something that I believe and pushing for brave explorations in various directions.

We are exploring new ideas and creating brave future visions for architecture while acknowledging the past. For instance, we are working on a project where we deal with a national heritage building and while respecting and keeping historical elements we add a unique contemporary touch to it. It is a lot of knowledge gain in that collaboration while working with archaeologists, artists, and conservators. Taking the collaborative approach is key to delivering high-end solutions.

One of the new challenges we are working on at the moment is launching a product design series this year.

Another huge mission that we set ourselves is our collaboration with Dom World an ecosystem that blends physical and digital spaces, offering a hub for creative individuals to share, play, learn, and earn. We are working with an interdisciplinary team consisting of architectural designers, game developers, Unreal Engine generalists, fashion designers, and producers. All with one goal to create a fascinating design that boosts experience and evokes emotions.

Tocco Report: Marine Materials 2030

This Tocco Report follows that transformation across five chapters. Part I examines ocean waste and its recycling into new material flows. Part II focuses on algae and their rapidly scaling bio-based chemistry. Part III turns to shells, chitosan, and fish skins as building blocks for biopolymers and leather alternatives. Part IV examines aquaculture as a biomass platform for food, fertilisers, and next-generation materials. Part V closes with the forces of the sea: energy, minerals, and current-driven systems that unlock power densities far beyond solar or wind. Together, these perspectives form a panorama of how ocean industries are scaling from niche experiments to critical infrastructures.
