Balena is a material science company founded in 2020, based in Israel. They specialize in developing sustainable materials for the fashion industry, with a focus on creating circular models for consumer goods. Their flagship product, BioCir™, is the world's first flexible and fully compostable thermoplastic material, reducing the use of toxic, fossil fuel-based materials. BioCir™ can be used for mass production in injection molding, extrusion, or as filament for 3D printing.
Balena's mission is to control a product's end-of-life status through BioCycling, allowing for decomposition and biodegradation in an industrial compost facility without leaving waste or contamination. Their impact is to reduce pollution of the earth and seas, completing a fully circular process required for a sustainable future. In Summer 2022, they launched the first fashion product made entirely of their BioCir material.
